Jasprit Bumrah Intensifies Preparations Ahead of Test Series Against New Zealand
India's Challenge in the Upcoming Test Series
To remain in contention for the ICC World Test Championship 2025-27 final, the Indian cricket team faces a significant challenge in their upcoming two-match Test series against New Zealand, aiming for a clean sweep of 2-0. Under the leadership of captain Shubman Gill and head coach Gautam Gambhir, the team is taking no chances on this crucial tour. As part of this strategy, several key players, including KL Rahul, Prasidh Krishna, and Anshul Kambhoj, have been rested for the last two ODIs.
Jasprit Bumrah's Focused Preparations
Recognizing the importance of the New Zealand tour, star fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has ramped up his preparations. He has visited the BCCI's 'Center of Excellence' in Bengaluru for routine check-ups and fitness assessments. Taking full advantage of the rest provided during the ODI series, Bumrah aims to enter the Test series refreshed. Following his impressive performance at the 2026 Asian Games, he is committed to maintaining that momentum in red-ball cricket.
Before departing for New Zealand, a special plan is being devised for Bumrah to ensure he gets match practice. It is believed that he may participate in the third warm-up Test match for the India A team, which will help him acclimatize to the local conditions and strengthen his grip on swing and seam bowling. The Test series, commencing on November 19 in Wellington, will be crucial for Bumrah's performance, which is expected to play a decisive role in India's success, alongside fellow fast bowlers Mohammad Siraj and Prasidh Krishna.
