Jasprit Bumrah Achieves 500 International Wickets Milestone
Bumrah Reaches 500 International Wickets
Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has reached a significant milestone by claiming his 500th international wicket, making him the eighth bowler and pacer from India to achieve this feat. This landmark was accomplished during the T20 World Cup semifinal against England held at Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium on Thursday. The wicket came from a slower delivery that tricked England's captain Harry Brook into playing an early shot, leading to a brilliant catch by Axar Patel at cover.
In his four-over spell, Bumrah recorded one wicket and conceded 33 runs. Throughout the tournament, he has played seven matches and taken 10 wickets, boasting his best performance of 3/15 against South Africa. Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh are now tied as India's leading wicket-takers in T20 World Cup history, each with 36 wickets.

High-Scoring Semifinal Thriller
In the semifinal, India batted first, with an explosive performance from Sanju Samson, who scored 89 runs off 42 balls, including eight fours and seven sixes. Other notable contributions came from Shivam Dube (43 runs in 25 balls), Ishan Kishan (39 runs in 18 balls), Hardik Pandya (27 runs in 12 balls), and Tilak Varma (21 runs in seven balls), leading India to a total of 253/7 in their 20 overs.
Despite a strong start, where England found themselves at 95/4, they fought back through Jacob Bethell, who scored 105 runs off 48 balls, and Will Jacks, who added 35 runs off 20 balls. Their partnership of 77 runs for the fifth wicket kept England in the game. Even after Jacks was dismissed, a quick 19 runs off four balls from Jofra Archer brought England close, but they ultimately finished at 246/7.
