Mountain cyclist Jaspreet Pal has been designated as Mandi’s inaugural Bicycle Mayor by BYCS, a prominent organization based in Amsterdam that spearheads the global Bicycle Mayor Network. With an impressive record of over 33,000 kilometers cycled and a total elevation gain of 750,000 meters, Pal's extensive experience showcases his resilience on some of the most challenging Himalayan trails.

His adventures encompass notable routes such as Sach Pass, Kunzum Pass, Baralacha La, Jalori Jot, Shinkula, and Chanshal, reinforcing his conviction that cycling can fulfill a broader social mission. A pivotal moment in his journey occurred in 2024 when he cycled 640 kilometers from Shimla to Tashigang, the highest polling station globally at 15,256 feet, to raise awareness about voting. His contributions earned him recognition as the State Election Icon of Himachal Pradesh by the Election Commission of India.

In his role as Bicycle Mayor, Pal intends to involve schools, colleges, youth organizations, and rural communities, motivating families and novice cyclists to take up cycling. His initiative, “Pedal to Heal Himalayas”, emphasizes environmental conservation, healthier living, and sustainable transportation. He also aims to enhance cycling accessibility for children from underprivileged backgrounds.

Utilizing BYCS’s global platform, Pal aspires to partner with cycling organizations, educational bodies, and local governments to foster a cycling culture throughout Himachal Pradesh. For him, success will not solely be gauged by the distance traveled but by the ability to inspire communities to come together for health, empowerment, and environmental stewardship.
