Incident in Jaipur Shocks Tourists

Jaipur News: The capital of Rajasthan, Jaipur, renowned for its hospitality and the cultural phrase 'Padharo Mhare Desh', has been shaken by a troubling incident. A Japanese tourist visiting the iconic Amer Fort was harassed by five young men. According to police reports, the woman arrived at the fort around 8:10 AM on Sunday. While walking between Ganesh Pol and the fort, she was surrounded by the group of men who began to make lewd gestures towards her.

Instead of panicking, the victim bravely started shouting for help. Upon hearing her cries and noticing a nearby security guard approaching, the five assailants fled down the hill. In a state of distress, the woman made her way to the Amer police station with the help of fort personnel to file a complaint.

CCTV footage from the area shows the five suspects quickly descending the hill. SHO Gautam Dotasra stated that they are reviewing records of local miscreants and suspicious guides based on the suspects' descriptions.

Second Major Incident in Nine Days

This is not the first instance of harassment faced by foreign tourists in Jaipur. Just nine days prior, a foreign woman was surrounded by a crowd at Jal Mahal under the pretense of taking selfies, where young men attempted to pull her towards them. Such recurring incidents are tarnishing the image of tourism in Rajasthan. The police claim they have nearly identified the suspects and will soon apprehend them.
