The Jammu and Kashmir Police have announced a 14-day preliminary inquiry following an incident involving cricketer Furqan Ul Haq, who was seen sporting a Palestine logo on his helmet during a match.
A video that surfaced on social media shows Furqan Ul Haq, son of Tajamul Hussain Bhat from Tangipuna, Pulwama, playing cricket at KC Door, Muthi while displaying the logo.
Inquiry Details
The police stated that the inquiry is being conducted under Section 173(3) BNSS to investigate the facts surrounding the incident, including the player's intent, background, and any potential connections.
Given the sensitive nature of the situation and its implications for public order, the inquiry aims to clarify the circumstances surrounding the display of the logo.
Previous Incident Under Investigation
On Thursday, the Jammu and Kashmir Police also summoned a cricketer and the organizer of a private tournament for questioning regarding the display of a Palestinian flag during a match in Jammu.
The player was reportedly seen wearing a helmet with the Palestine flag while participating in the tournament.
Both the player and the tournament organizer have been called in to provide details about the incident.
