Jammu and Kashmir Police Conducts Raids to Uncover Terror Links
Counter-Intelligence Operations in Kashmir Valley
On Friday, May 30, the Counter-Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) unit of the Jammu and Kashmir Police executed multiple searches across various locations in the Kashmir Valley as part of an ongoing investigation into suspected terrorist connections. According to a statement released by CIK, this operation is a significant part of a broader inquiry aimed at monitoring individuals linked to terrorist organizations.
Locations of the Raids
Officials reported that the raids took place in districts including Budgam, Pulwama, Awantipora, Kupwara, Shopian, and Srinagar. During the investigation, some suspects were found using a specific 'encrypted messaging application' commonly utilized by terrorists and their handlers across the border. This type of application encodes messages to prevent unauthorized access. Authorities expressed concerns that individuals using this application might be in contact with suspicious entities across the border. The raids were ongoing as of the latest reports.
Collaboration with Local Authorities
These coordinated raids were conducted with the assistance of local police and magistrates, as part of a continuous effort by specialized SIA teams to dismantle sleeper cells and target terrorist organizations in the region.
Details of the Raids
Out of the 18 locations targeted, twelve were in the Surankot sub-district, and three were in the Haveli tehsil of Poonch district. Additional operations were also carried out in Rajouri city, Ramnagar in Udhampur district, and one site in Ramban.
Seizures and Ongoing Investigations
In accordance with established legal protocols, a significant amount of objectionable material was seized during the raids. The confiscated items are currently under examination, and further investigations are underway. Several suspects have been summoned to participate in the inquiry by the SIA in Jammu. This operation is part of the SIA's efforts to expose and eliminate active terrorist networks in Jammu.
