Court Hearing Scheduled for AAP MLA's Petition

The High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh has set December 18 as the date for the final hearing of a petition filed by detained Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Mehraaj Malik. During the court proceedings, the petitioners presented their arguments in detail before the judges.

Malik, who serves as the president of the AAP's Jammu and Kashmir unit, was taken into custody on September 8 under the stringent Public Safety Act (PSA) for allegedly disrupting public order. He was subsequently placed in Kathua Jail. On September 24, Malik challenged his detention by filing a habeas corpus petition, seeking compensation of ₹5 crore.

Appu Singh Salathia, a spokesperson and lawyer for AAP, stated, "Senior advocate Rahul Pant, who is leading our case, presented compelling arguments before the court until 1 PM. He elaborated on our position thoroughly. The judge listened to our points in detail." Salathia further noted that the court has postponed the hearing of the case to December 18.
