Jairam Thakur Critiques Himachal CM Over Election Promises and Priorities
Opposition Leader Questions Chief Minister's Focus
Jairam Thakur, the former Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh and current Leader of Opposition, intensified his criticism of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Wednesday. He raised concerns regarding Sukhu's frequent trips to Delhi and demanded transparency about the political situation affecting Himachal Pradesh. Thakur challenged the Chief Minister to clarify the status of the Congress party's election promises and questioned the government's priorities.
While visiting the Saraj Assembly constituency, Thakur noted that the Chief Minister's repeated visits to the national capital had sparked public curiosity, with reports indicating that one trip often followed closely after another.
Thakur stated, 'The residents of Himachal Pradesh deserve to know what is transpiring in Delhi regarding their state and what political strategies are being devised there,' urging Sukhu to explain the reasons behind his ongoing meetings with Congress leaders.
‘First answer the people of Himachal Pradesh’
Thakur escalated his critique by questioning the Congress party's accountability in the electoral process. He argued that the party should first address the commitments it made to gain the people's trust in Himachal Pradesh. He accused Congress of making deceptive promises during the Assembly elections and demanded an apology from Sukhu to the state's citizens.
The BJP leader also took issue with the Chief Minister's involvement in protests related to the electoral system, questioning the political reasoning behind such actions. He urged Sukhu to distance himself from what he termed an attempt to create political chaos.
Thakur suggested that the results of the recent Panchayati Raj elections should be communicated to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, asserting that these outcomes carry significant political implications for the ruling party as it prepares for the upcoming Assembly elections.
In a direct jab at the Chief Minister's relationship with the Congress high command, Thakur remarked that the energy spent on securing the central leadership's confidence would be better utilized in safeguarding the interests of Himachal Pradesh.
His comments highlighted two critical political issues: the Congress government's accountability regarding its electoral promises and the dynamics between state leadership and the party's central command.
BJP Enhances Grassroots Engagement in Saraj
In addition to his political critique, Thakur participated in booth-level meetings at the BJP Gram Kendras in Kandha and Baga Syad, where he engaged with party workers about organizational activities and future initiatives.
He emphasized that the BJP's organizational framework and dedicated members are its core strengths, underlining the necessity of connecting with the grassroots and effectively communicating the party's policies and the development initiatives of the Narendra Modi-led central government.
These meetings were part of his Saraj visit, during which he also interacted with local residents to discuss regional development and public welfare issues.
Yamuna Thakur, chairperson of the Kullu and Naggar Block Panchayat Samitis, along with Bed Ram Thakur and BJP Kullu Sadar Mandal president Sharban Lal Thakur, also met with the Leader of Opposition. Their discussions revolved around local development priorities, public concerns, and organizational matters.
Blood Donation Camp Showcases BJP's Community Service
Thakur also took part in a blood donation camp organized by the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha’s Saraj Mandal at Baga Syad, as part of its Seva Sankalp Abhiyan.
During the event, he warmly interacted with Nitika, a young girl affected by a disaster in the Saraj Assembly constituency, who had the honor of inaugurating the camp.
Thakur described blood donation as a crucial humanitarian act, stating that a single donation can save a life. He commended the donors, organizers, and party workers for their contributions to this initiative.
Emphasis on Education at Adopted School
Later, Thakur visited Government Senior Secondary School, Baga Chanogi, which he has adopted, and engaged with the students.
He expressed that this initiative aims to foster improvements in the educational environment and assist students in realizing their potential. He conveyed his joy in meeting the children and stressed the importance of providing them with better opportunities to achieve their aspirations.
This visit combined political outreach and organizational engagement with social initiatives, as the Leader of Opposition utilized his Saraj tour to question the state government’s priorities while connecting with party workers, residents, and students.
