In Jaipur, the sanitation system faced a complete breakdown on Saturday morning as thousands of sanitation workers initiated an indefinite strike under the banner of the Joint Valmiki and Sanitation Workers Union. On the first day of the protest, significant unrest was observed in the historic walled city area, where demonstrators created a blockade by spilling garbage onto the streets using tractors and trolleys.

Escalation of Protests

According to senior officials of the union, sanitation workers had been on a hunger strike for the past week. Frustrated by the lack of attention from the administration and government regarding their demands, they decided to escalate their protest with a collective work boycott.
