Israel's Economy Minister Predicts Short Reign for Iran's New Supreme Leader
Predictions on Iran's Leadership
Nir Barkat, the Israeli Minister for Economy and Industry, has expressed his belief that Mojtaba Khamenei, recently appointed as Iran's Supreme Leader and son of the former leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, will not have a long tenure. In an exclusive discussion with a prominent media figure, Barkat was asked if Israel and the United States might target Mojtaba Khamenei similarly to how they did his father. He responded affirmatively, stating, “As long as they maintain their destructive ambitions against Israel, they remain a target for our military and intelligence operations. I doubt he will last long.”
Following a series of coordinated military actions that commenced on February 28, the leadership of the Iranian regime was targeted, resulting in the death of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who had held the position since 1989.
Barkat emphasized the necessity of addressing what he termed a 'Jihadi Nazi regime,' asserting that their elimination is crucial not only for Israel's safety but for the entire free world and non-Muslim nations. He noted that India shares similar concerns regarding this threat.
He further stated, “We possess extensive intelligence regarding the Islamic regime and its jihadist leaders. We are aware of their locations and how to pursue them, but the timing of such actions remains uncertain.”
Barkat also commented on the current instability in global markets, particularly due to rising oil prices, suggesting that this would dissipate once the Iranian regime is defeated. He expressed optimism that the world would benefit from this outcome, leading to enhanced freedom and trade opportunities.
In addition, India and Israel are in discussions regarding a Free Trade Agreement, with terms agreed upon last November during a meeting between India’s Commerce Minister and Barkat. He expressed hope that the agreement would be finalized by the end of the year, mentioning an upcoming Indian delegation to Israel to expedite the process.
