Israeli military aircraft executed a significant strike, dropping approximately 30 bombs on a complex in Tehran associated with Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. This operation was reportedly part of a coordinated effort with the United States. As reported by a major news outlet, the attack was initiated after Israeli forces confirmed Khamenei's whereabouts. Intelligence agencies from both nations had been monitoring a rare assembly of Iran's senior political and military figures, aiming to eliminate multiple high-ranking officials in one operation.

Israeli officials indicated that intelligence services successfully identified three high-level meetings on Saturday, allowing them to locate Khamenei during this critical time. The news outlet characterized this as a rare and 'unique' chance, leading to the decision to conduct the strike in broad daylight.

According to US officials, there was intelligence suggesting that Iran was preparing to take action against American targets, which heightened the urgency for President Donald Trump to authorize the operation. The joint military action targeted essential military sites, government offices, and facilities linked to Iran's top leadership, including Khamenei, Defence Minister Amir Naserzadeh, and Commander-in-Chief Mohammad Pakpour. Khamenei, who had been in power since 1989, was confirmed dead as a result of the airstrikes.

In response to the extensive US-Israeli airstrikes, Iran declared a period of 40 days of national mourning for Khamenei, labeling the assault as the most significant attack on its soil in decades. Tehran has vowed to retaliate by targeting US military installations throughout West Asia.
