Israeli Air Force Strikes Iranian Leadership Hub

On Tuesday, Israel announced it had conducted an airstrike on what it referred to as the central leadership compound of Iran in Tehran, labeling it the “most significant headquarters of the regime.” The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) reported that the Israeli Air Force executed the operation overnight on Monday, utilizing what they described as accurate intelligence.

The IDF stated, "During the night, the Israeli Air Force, based on precise intelligence, targeted and dismantled facilities within the Iranian terrorist regime's leadership compound located in central Tehran." The military claimed that multiple munitions were deployed against the Presidential Office and the building housing Iran’s Supreme National Security Council.

Furthermore, the IDF indicated that the site where the regime's top security decision-making forum convenes was also hit, along with a training institution for Iranian military officers and other critical regime infrastructure. The IDF characterized the compound as one of Iran's most fortified locations, spanning several streets in central Tehran, where high-ranking leaders and security officials frequently gathered to discuss Iran’s nuclear ambitions and strategies against Israel.

According to the IDF, the compound was a meeting place for senior leaders and security officials who conducted assessments related to Iran's nuclear program and strategized plans aimed at the destruction of Israel. The IDF claimed, "The leadership of the regime and senior security officials regularly convened at this compound to conduct situational assessments regarding Iran's nuclear program and to advance plans targeting the State of Israel."

Israel also noted that this compound was utilized by Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who was reportedly killed during a coordinated pre-emptive strike by Israel and the United States on Saturday. The IDF emphasized, "This compound serves as the most central and significant headquarters of the Iranian terrorist regime. Its strike further degrades the functional continuity of the regime's command and control systems."

In response to Khamenei's death and the loss of other senior officials, Iran has pledged to retaliate. On Tuesday, Iranian forces targeted the U.S. Embassy in Riyadh with a drone, resulting in a fire and what Saudi authorities described as “minor damage.” Additionally, the U.S. Embassy in Kuwait was also struck and temporarily shut down.

President Donald Trump remarked that the conflict might last longer than initially anticipated, stating, "From the beginning, we projected four to five weeks, but we have the capability to extend far beyond that."
