Ishan Kishan's Impressive County Debut

Currently in England, Indian wicket-keeper batsman Ishan Kishan is not part of the ongoing Test series against England but is competing in the County Championship. Playing for Nottinghamshire, he made a remarkable impact in his debut match against Yorkshire, scoring 87 runs off 98 balls, which included 12 boundaries and a six.

Kishan batted at the sixth position when Nottinghamshire was at 225 for four wickets, later advancing to 283 for six. He played a crucial role in a 71-run partnership for the seventh wicket with Liam Patterson-White, helping the team surpass the 350-run mark. Although he was on track for a century, he was dismissed for 87 runs, caught by George Hill off Dom Bess's delivery, marking him as the seventh wicket.

Exclusion from Team India

After being dropped from the Indian Test squad in December 2023, Kishan has not made a return. He is eager to rejoin the Test team, but with Rishabh Pant and Dhruv Jurel ahead of him in the selection process, his chances seem slim. To date, he has played two Test matches, scoring a total of 78 runs during the West Indies tour. In his first-class career, he has participated in 58 matches, accumulating 3,447 runs at an average of 37.87, including eight centuries and 17 half-centuries.

In addition to his absence from the Test team, Kishan is also not included in the ODI and T20 squads. Other players like Rituraj Gaikwad, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Tilak Verma are also competing in the County Championship, with only Tilak participating in the current round as a member of the Hampshire team.
