Is the First Vande Bharat Sleeper Train Launch Under Threat? RPF Raises Alarm!
Concerns Surrounding the Vande Bharat Sleeper Train Launch
Kolkata: As the inaugural launch of India's first Vande Bharat Sleeper Train approaches, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) has alerted the Officer-in-Charge of Kaliachak Police Station in Malda about potential threats of stone-pelting on the train.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the train from Malda Town Railway Station on Friday afternoon.
Intelligence reports have raised alarms regarding possible attacks. The RPF's communication to the police indicates fears that the train could be targeted with stones and that black flags might be displayed against the Prime Minister during the event.
Authorities have been directed to implement stringent security measures to prevent any incidents.
The RPF's letter cites an email from a local resident, Subodh Kumar Sau, who warned that certain individuals were planning to disrupt the launch by throwing stones and displaying black flags.
Concerns have been raised about potential stone-throwing incidents at various stations including Jamirghata, Khaltipur, Chamgram, Shankhpara, New Farakka, Ballalpur, Dhulian, Basudevpur, and Tildanga after the train departs from Malda.
To maintain order, Kaliachak police have been instructed to ensure a strong police presence at these locations.
Historically, there have been instances of stone-pelting on the Howrah-New Jalpaiguri Vande Bharat Express, prompting the railways to take decisive action in those cases.
In light of these past events, the RPF has proactively reached out to the Kaliachak Police to avert any disturbances during the Vande Bharat Sleeper Train's launch.
The Prime Minister will flag off the train, which connects Howrah and Guwahati (Kamakhya), at approximately 12:45 PM on Friday.
Additionally, he will virtually inaugurate the return service from Guwahati to Howrah. The introduction of the Vande Bharat Sleeper Train signifies a major advancement for Indian Railways, enhancing premium overnight travel options between eastern and northeastern India.
This 16-coach train, managed by the Northeast Frontier Railway zone, will include 11 AC 3-tier coaches, four AC 2-tier coaches, and one AC First Class coach.
