The Iranian women's volleyball team has made history by winning the 2026 Central Asian Volleyball Association Championship for the second consecutive time. The team triumphed over Kazakhstan in the final match, showcasing exceptional skill and determination. The Iranian Ambassador to India, Mohammad Fathali, recently met with the national women's volleyball team to commend them on their remarkable victory at the 2026 Central Asian Volleyball Association (CAVA) Championship held in Kathmandu. This win signifies the team's second consecutive championship title.


Embassy Honors the Champions

In a post shared on X, the Iranian Embassy in India highlighted Ambassador Fathali's meeting with the volleyball team in Kathmandu, where he expressed his heartfelt congratulations. The post stated, "Dr. Mohammad Fathali, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to India and accredited to Nepal, met with members of Iran's national women's volleyball team in Kathmandu and wished them continued success."


The Embassy celebrated the team's historic achievement, emphasizing their determination and passion. They remarked, "Pride, zeal, and another golden cup: Iran's history-making women's volleyball double championship at the 2026 Central Asian Games."


Iran's Strong Performance in the Championship

Iran showcased an impressive performance throughout the tournament, finishing the 2026 CAVA Women's Volleyball Championship with an unbeaten record. They secured the gold medal by defeating Kazakhstan with a score of 3-1 (25-18, 19-25, 25-15, 25-21) in the final match held in Kathmandu, as reported by an Iranian semi-official news agency.


After Kazakhstan equalized by winning the second set, Iran responded with a dominant display in the subsequent sets, ultimately clinching the title and concluding the tournament with a perfect 6-0 record. The team maintained their unbeaten streak from the group stage through to the knockout rounds, securing the regional championship.


Key Players in the Final

In the final match, Fatemeh Khalili Chermahini emerged as the top scorer for Iran, contributing 15 points. She was closely followed by Elaheh Poorsaleh Shahdehsari with 14 points and Reyhane Karimi, who added 11 points to the team's total.
