Iran's IRGC Intelligence Chief Killed in Airstrike by US and Israel
Major General Seyyed Majid Khademi's Death
Tehran: An official statement from Iran has confirmed that Major General Seyyed Majid Khademi, the intelligence chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), was killed during an airstrike conducted by the United States and Israel on Monday. The IRGC reported that the attack occurred early in the morning, but did not specify the location of Khademi's death.
The Iranian statement highlighted that General Khademi had served for nearly 50 years, playing significant roles in intelligence and security operations. It further noted his crucial involvement in countering enemy infiltration and maintaining the security and stability of the Iranian regime.
General Khademi is among the latest high-ranking Iranian officials to be assassinated. Last month, Israel targeted Iran's security chief Ali Larijani, considered one of the most powerful figures after the late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, along with intelligence minister Ismail Khatib. Khademi had been appointed as the head of the IRGC's intelligence service in June of the previous year. On February 28, the US and Israel initiated attacks on Iran, resulting in the deaths of several top officials, including IRGC chief Mohammad Pakpour, Basij force chief Gholamreza Soleimani, and defense minister Aziz Nasirzadeh.
The US and Israel have vowed to eliminate the new Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, who is the son of the late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, killed in the initial attack on February 28. General Khademi was known for his hardline stance, particularly in preventing foreign espionage and suppressing internal dissent. He was regarded as a close and loyal ally of Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, with primary responsibilities including thwarting external infiltration (especially from Mossad) and maintaining the secrecy of the organization.
