Iran's Leaders Respond to US Actions

On Wednesday, Iranian officials delivered strong warnings as tensions with the United States and its allies escalated. Mohammad Ghalibaf, the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, stated that the nation’s military is vigilantly monitoring what he termed as 'enemy' activities in the region. He claimed that Iran possesses intelligence indicating that adversaries, with assistance from a neighboring country, are planning to 'occupy one of the Iranian islands.' Ghalibaf cautioned that such an action would provoke a direct and severe retaliation. He emphasized, 'All enemy movements are under the full surveillance of our armed forces. If they overstep, all critical infrastructure of that regional country will be targeted without hesitation,' as reported by various news outlets.

Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, also conveyed a message to Middle Eastern nations, urging them to distance themselves from the United States. He remarked that Washington has not succeeded in its objectives regarding Iran. 'The US has failed in its war goals in Iran, including quick victory and regime change,' Araghchi stated, according to reports.

White House's Position

Earlier, the White House defended its military actions, emphasizing ongoing successes and negotiations. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt noted that US forces have significantly weakened Iran’s naval capabilities. 'We have destroyed over 140 naval vessels in Iran, including nearly 50 mine layers. This marks the largest naval elimination in a three-week span since World War II,' she asserted.

Leavitt mentioned that President Trump has pushed Iran towards negotiations through what she referred to as 'Operation Epic Fury.' She stated, 'The remaining elements of the Iranian regime have another chance to engage with President Trump. There should be no more death and destruction, but if Iran does not accept the current reality, the President will ensure they face unprecedented consequences.' Regarding the status of negotiations, Leavitt indicated that discussions are ongoing and productive, while advising caution regarding unverified reports.

The White House also aimed to reassure both allies and the public. When questioned about rising fuel prices and public anxiety, Leavitt stated, 'President Trump is acting in your interest.' She added that the administration anticipates support from allies, including Israel, for any final agreement. 'The President has demonstrated a unique ability to align our allies,' she concluded.
