Iran Issues Stark Warning Following Election Results and New Leadership
Iran's Aggressive Response to New Leadership
In a shocking development right after the election results, Iran has issued a significant warning to the world. Following the death of Ali Khamenei, his son, Mohtaba Khamenei, has been appointed as the new Supreme Leader, prompting Iran to launch a barrage of missiles towards Israel. The conflict has now escalated into a more perilous phase.
On the morning of March 9, 2026, the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) fired dozens of ballistic missiles and drones at Israel under the command of Mohtaba Khamenei. This assault is being viewed as a direct retaliation against ongoing airstrikes by the US-Israel alliance targeting Iran. Statements from Tehran indicated that "this is just the beginning," with major Israeli cities like Tel Aviv, Haifa, and Jerusalem being marked as targets.
Iranian state media, IRIB, reported that this "first wave" of missiles was launched under the command of Mohtaba Khamenei, featuring advanced missiles such as Khorramshahr-4 and Khyber Shaken. Although Israel activated its Iron Dome and other defense systems, several missiles managed to reach their targets, resulting in explosions in Tel Aviv and Petah Tikva. Reports indicate that numerous civilians in Israel have been injured, and significant property damage has occurred.
Prior to this, on February 28, 2026, a joint attack by the US and Israel resulted in the deaths of several high-ranking Iranian leaders, including Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, which marked the beginning of this conflict. With Mohtaba Khamenei's recent appointment, Iran has intensified its retaliatory measures. Attacks involving Iranian missiles and drones are also ongoing against Gulf nations such as Saudi Arabia, UAE, Bahrain, and Qatar.
In response, the Israeli military has ramped up airstrikes on Tehran and other Iranian cities. US President Donald Trump has warned that Iran will be "completely devastated." Meanwhile, oil prices in the Middle East are soaring, and there are growing concerns about a significant escalation of war.
