Iran Dismisses Ceasefire Proposal, Demands Permanent Peace Amid Tensions
Iran's Firm Stance on Ceasefire
Tehran: The Iranian state news agency, IRNA, has reported that Tehran has turned down the latest ceasefire offer, insisting instead on a definitive conclusion to the ongoing conflict.
This announcement arrives just ahead of the deadline set by US President Donald Trump, which demands that Tehran allow access to the Strait of Hormuz or face potential attacks on its infrastructure, including power plants and bridges.
According to the news agency, Iran communicated its position to the United States via Pakistan.
"We will not simply agree to a ceasefire," stated Mojtaba Ferdousi Pour, the head of Iran's diplomatic mission in Cairo, during an interview with The Associated Press on Monday. "We require a conclusion to the war with assurances that we will not face further aggression."
Regarding the Strait of Hormuz, Ferdousi Pour mentioned that Iranian and Omani officials are collaborating to establish a management system for this critical shipping route.
