Iran Claims Trump Has Retreated Amidst Rising Tensions

Recent reports from Iranian state-linked media suggest that President Donald Trump has retreated in the ongoing conflict with Iran. Following Tehran's threats to target regional energy infrastructure in response to US strikes, Trump reportedly ordered a postponement of military action. This narrative has gained traction, with the Iranian embassy in Kabul issuing a statement highlighting Trump's withdrawal. Meanwhile, key US ally Israel has not commented on the situation, leaving many questions about the future of US-Iran relations amidst escalating tensions.

Iran's Assertion of Trump's Withdrawal

A new narrative from Iranian state-affiliated media suggests that US President Donald Trump has retreated in the ongoing conflict with Iran. This assertion follows the US's recent decision to pause planned strikes on Iranian energy targets. Outlets like Press TV have indicated that this halt signifies a withdrawal under pressure. The Iranian embassy in Kabul responded sharply, labeling the situation as 'Trump’s Retreat After Iran’s Firm Warning.' In a statement shared on its official X account, the embassy claimed that after Tehran threatened to target energy infrastructure throughout the region in retaliation for any US strikes, Trump decided to delay the attack.

According to the embassy's post, 'Trump's Retreat After Iran's Firm Warning. After the Islamic Republic threatened that in the event of any U.S. attack on Iran's energy infrastructure, it would target the energy infrastructure of the entire region, Trump backed down and stated that he had issued an order to postpone the attack.'

While the Iranian side did not refute Trump's claim that discussions had been ongoing for two days, there was no immediate reaction from Israel, a key US ally that has been drawn into the conflict, particularly in Lebanon. The office of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has remained silent following Trump's significant post on Truth Social.
