The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of Iran has claimed responsibility for a missile strike targeting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office and the Israeli Air Force commander. The IRGC vowed to retaliate against those responsible for the death of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, promising a fierce response. As the situation escalates, both sides are preparing for further confrontations, with Iran asserting its commitment to defending its sovereignty. This article delves into the details of the attack and the broader implications for regional stability.

Missile Attack on Israeli Officials

Tel Aviv: On March 2, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of Iran announced that it had conducted a missile strike targeting the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the commander of the Israeli Air Force. According to reports from Iran Times, the IRGC described the operation as a 'surprise' attack, utilizing Kheibar missiles. However, there has been no official acknowledgment from Israeli authorities regarding this incident.

IRGC's Declaration: The IRGC stated, 'The office of the criminal Prime Minister of the Zionist regime and the location of the Commander of the Air Force of this regime's army were targeted and severely hit by targeted and surprise attacks of Kheibar missiles in the tenth wave by the armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran.'

Previously, the IRGC had pledged to retaliate against those responsible for the death of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, promising a response that would be 'the most ferocious offensive operation in history' against both the US and Israel.

In a message shared on its official Telegram channel, the IRGC emphasized, 'The hand of revenge of the Iranian nation for a severe, decisive and regrettable punishment for the murderers of the Imam of the Ummah will not let go of them.' The statement further asserted that the IRGC, along with the Armed Forces and Basij forces, would continue to uphold the legacy of their leader by countering both internal and external threats and delivering what they termed a 'lesson-giving punishment' to aggressors against Iran.

On the previous day, the IRGC also claimed that four ballistic missiles had struck the US aircraft carrier Abraham Lincoln. However, this assertion was refuted by US Central Command. In response to escalating tensions, the US and Israel had launched a significant offensive against Iran, targeting multiple cities and resulting in the deaths of key Iranian leaders, including Ayatollah Khamenei. Following these attacks, Iran retaliated with strikes on Israeli and US military installations in Gulf nations, including the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Qatar.
