Patna, Sep 28: A disturbing video featuring two young women being questioned and reportedly mishandled in broad daylight in Bhagalpur district, Bihar, has gained significant attention on social media, leading to police action and an ongoing investigation. Authorities have confirmed the arrest of one individual in connection with the incident.

Details of the Incident

The event occurred in the Kahalgaon area approximately a week ago. The footage depicts a group of individuals confronting the two women, with some seen allegedly pushing them during the encounter.

Police Response

In response to the video's circulation, Bhagalpur police commenced an inquiry under the directive of SSP Pramod Kumar Yadav, resulting in the arrest of Rampravesh Yadav, a resident of Kemachak village.

SSP Yadav stated that preliminary investigations and discussions with local residents suggest that the incident did not involve any form of molestation.

Investigation Progress

Authorities reported that several witnesses, including elderly individuals, women, and children, were present during the questioning of the two women. Police teams are actively conducting raids to identify and apprehend additional suspects involved in the incident.

According to police findings, two couples from the Shahkund police station area had left their homes without notifying their guardians, intending to get married. They initially visited a temple in Sanhaula but, upon encountering a crowd, moved to a Shiva temple in a rural area under Amdanda police jurisdiction.

Upon arrival, they discovered the temple was closed, leading to suspicion from local villagers who began questioning the group. The two young men reportedly fled the scene, leaving the women to face the inquiries alone.

During this interaction, some individuals allegedly pushed the women, an act that was captured on video. Police are currently reviewing the footage, eyewitness statements, and other evidence to clarify the events and identify the roles of those involved.

Related Arrests

In a separate but related case, police have detained three individuals linked to the distribution of an objectionable video associated with the Mandar Hill area in Banka district. Banka SP Amitesh Kumar reported that a Special Investigation Team apprehended Abdullah at Howrah Railway Station, while Anant was arrested at his home and Vibhishan at Patna Railway Station.

Additionally, two of the four juveniles implicated in this case have been taken into custody, with efforts ongoing to locate the remaining two suspects. A case has been filed at Bounsi police station based on a complaint from the victim's mother, naming Anant and Vibhishan as suspects.

Authorities are also scrutinizing the involvement of 41 social media platforms, including two accounts on X, regarding the video's circulation. Investigators are analyzing digital and other evidence in both cases to ascertain the circumstances and the roles of those involved.
