Investigation Launched After Allegations of Police Misconduct in Indore

An investigation has been launched in Indore after videos surfaced showing two young men, arrested for assault and vandalism, allegedly removing fake plaster casts. The incident has raised serious concerns about police conduct, with accusations of bribery against an officer. Police Inquiry Initiated Over Allegations of Fabricated Evidence

Indore (Madhya Pradesh), July 30 - Following the emergence of videos suggesting that two young men, arrested for assault and vandalism, were allegedly subjected to fake plaster casts, the police have commenced an investigation. A police official provided this update on Thursday. The incident, which has circulated widely on social media, has raised questions regarding the police's conduct.


In one of the videos, the accused can be seen limping during a procession in the presence of police, with plaster casts visibly wrapped around their arms. Another video shows the two men removing the casts themselves and discarding them in bushes just before entering the district jail. A police officer is also seen assisting them in removing the casts.


An unidentified individual recording the video can be heard accusing the police officer of accepting a bribe of 20,000 rupees from the accused. Additional Deputy Commissioner Omprakash stated that a case came to the police's attention on July 23, where the two individuals allegedly assaulted a person and caused damage. He confirmed that a case was registered against them under relevant legal provisions, and they were subsequently sent to judicial custody.


The Additional Deputy Commissioner mentioned that the videos involving the accused are under review, and an investigation is underway. He stated, 'Further actions will be determined based on the facts and evidence that emerge during the investigation.'
