Preparations for the International Minjar Fair 2026

All arrangements for the upcoming International Minjar Fair 2026 have been completed, including cultural events and security protocols. This announcement was made by Amit Mehra, the Additional Deputy Commissioner and Officer of the Minjar Fair Committee, during a press conference held at Savings Bhawan today.

Mehra revealed the schedule of star performers for the cultural evenings: Ishant Bhardwaj on July 26, Sunil Rana on July 27, Kuldeep Sharma on July 28, Yasir Desai on July 29, Ankush Bhardwaj on July 30, Jassi Gill & Babbal Rai on July 31, Asees Kaur on August 1, and Gippy Grewal on August 2. In addition to these headline acts, numerous local and regional artists will perform, showcasing the rich folk culture of Himachal.

This year, new features have been added, including a Self-Help Group fair with 16 stalls dedicated to local products. A Nati dance competition will take place at the opening event, offering a prize of ₹51,000 for the winning team, which will consist of SHG women and Anganwadi workers. Other attractions include the Miss Minjar Queen contest, anti-drug street plays, a book fair, health camps, and free legal aid services.

Regarding security, Superintendent of Police Vijay Saklani stated that the fair area will be divided into four sectors, with 650 police personnel assigned to ensure safety. Specialized teams, including anti-eve teasing units and anti-drug squads, will be operational. CCTV cameras have been installed for monitoring, parking will be available at Police Ground Bargah, and traffic restrictions will be implemented from Bharmour Chowk to the main city after 4 PM daily. Emergency helplines 112 and 1930 will be active, and a police control room will be established at Chaugan No. 1.

Saklani also mentioned that this year will see the introduction of various sports events, such as the traditional Chamba game Kodi, women's kabaddi, junior hockey, and junior basketball. He urged the community to uphold peace and harmony throughout the festivities.
