The Jammu and Kashmir police have announced a reward of ₹15 lakh for information leading to the capture of 22-year-old Mohammad Latif Bhat, who is accused of the daylight murder of Head Constable Ashiq Hussain on July 22 in Anantnag. Bhat, a resident of Kulgam, allegedly shot the officer at close range in a crowded market at Lal Chowk. Following this shocking incident, security agencies released images of him from CCTV footage and have put up posters in key locations across Kashmir, urging the public to provide credible information.

This incident occurred amidst a surge in attacks targeting civilians and security forces by terrorists in the valley. In a separate operation in the Rajpora area of Pulwama, Tausif Ahmed Dar was arrested, with a hand grenade and objectionable posters found in his possession. Both individuals have been charged under relevant sections of the law, and investigations are ongoing.

In a related development, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha presented appointment letters to 37 members of families affected by terrorism in Srinagar, reiterating the government's stance against terrorism. He emphasized that the administration's goal is not only to eliminate terrorists but also to eradicate the entire terrorist network and its support systems, ensuring peace, equality, and a dignified life for every citizen in Jammu and Kashmir.
