Inspiring Journey of a Young Woman Overcoming Physical Challenges

Vishnupriya Gogoi, a 21-year-old from Mariani, has defied physical limitations to earn her Bachelor's degree in Sociology. Despite her disability, she has shown remarkable determination and resilience throughout her academic journey. Her mother, Rumi, expresses immense pride in her daughter's achievements, which come after years of hardship. Vishnupriya's aspirations to become a teacher and her appeal for support from the Chief Minister highlight her desire for independence. Vishnupriya Gogoi: A Beacon of Determination


Jorhat, June 20: Vishnupriya Gogoi, a remarkable 21-year-old from Mariani, has demonstrated that physical limitations cannot extinguish one's aspirations. Despite her inability to stand or walk, she has accomplished a significant milestone by earning a Bachelor’s degree.


Measuring just two feet in height, she relies entirely on her mother's support for mobility. However, her relentless determination, mental fortitude, and passion for education have enabled her to triumph over significant challenges.


“My husband sells vegetables, and we have faced numerous hardships,” shared Rumi Gogoi, Vishnupriya's mother. “Witnessing my daughter graduate fills me with immense pride. Our struggles have finally paid off.”


Residing in Japishajia village in Beltol under Selenghat, Vishnupriya is the eldest child of Lakhi and Rumi Gogoi. Born with a disability, she has never walked independently. Nevertheless, her academic path has been marked by quiet perseverance, achieving outstanding results in her high school and higher secondary examinations.

Recently, she completed her final undergraduate exams at Dibrugarh University, graduating with Honours in Sociology from Amguri College.


“She has always been dedicated to her studies,” her mother remarked. “Despite her challenges, she put in tremendous effort and graduated with excellent grades. We are incredibly proud of her.”


Coming from a financially struggling family, Vishnupriya aspires to become a teacher. She has reached out to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, requesting an electric wheelchair and a job opportunity that would allow her to live with dignity and independence.


Her journey serves as a powerful testament that with a strong mind and unwavering spirit, no physical obstacle is too great. Vishnupriya’s story is not merely one of personal victory; it is a source of inspiration for everyone.
