Inspiring Career Guidance at Udaan Programme in Chowari

During a recent event at Himalayan Public Senior Secondary School, Block Development Officer (BDO) Anil Gurda inspired students through the Udaan career counselling programme. This initiative was organized in collaboration with Aarni University-Kangra and aims to introduce students to various career paths while offering guidance for a successful professional future.


Gurda, who joined the administrative services in 2020 at the age of 31, shared insights from his journey, including the challenges he faced while preparing for civil services and his experience of taking the UPSC mains three times. He also recounted his time at coaching centres in Delhi and Chandigarh, where he mentored fellow aspirants, showcasing his dedication to helping others.


In his address, Gurda stressed that achieving career success is not confined to a few options. He stated, “There are numerous paths to reach your goals. The essential factor is to find the right guidance and remain dedicated to your aspirations.”


The event commenced with a traditional welcome, where Gurda received a shawl and cap as a mark of respect. Gopal Puri, a Political Editor, introduced the initiative, while a counsellor from Aarni University offered further career advice. The school principal expressed gratitude to the organizers and the chief guest for their contributions to student development.


Students were actively involved, posing questions about competitive exams, administrative services, and career planning. Teachers noted that the session was highly motivating, emphasizing the importance of real-life role models in shaping students' ambitions and boosting their confidence.


The Udaan initiative continues to empower students throughout Himachal Pradesh, helping to connect ambition with opportunity while fostering disciplined study habits, career awareness, and personal growth.
