Overview of the Inspection
In Jaipur, V. Sarvan Kumar, the divisional commissioner and secretary in charge of the Kotputli-Bahrod district, visited the Progressive Mustard Producer Company Limited located in Basna, Banasur, on Thursday. During his visit, he assessed the mustard oil processing unit and gathered information regarding procurement, quality testing, processing, packaging, and marketing systems. He emphasized the need to enhance product quality, adopt modern technology, and strengthen branding and marketing efforts.
Kumar highlighted that this farmer producer organization (FPO) is effectively linking farmers with production, processing, and marketing, thereby ensuring better prices, promoting agricultural entrepreneurship, and creating job opportunities in rural areas. He also recommended that the FPO expand into areas such as vegetable production, polyhouse farming, and floriculture to diversify its business.
District Collector Mrs. Aparna Gupta noted that carrots are among the 'Panch Gaurav' products of the district. She suggested establishing a carrot processing unit with the help of the agriculture department, which would enhance value addition for farmers and provide better market access.
Deepak Jakhar, the district development manager of NABARD, reported that the FPO, registered in July 2021, has achieved a turnover of approximately ₹3.58 crore to date. The mustard oil processing unit, established through the convergence of the PM-FME scheme, is benefiting farmers by enhancing value addition, and various schemes are being utilized to support the organization's business expansion.
