In Saharanpur, Aditya Tyagi, a resident of Mehrwani village, has demonstrated how to effectively utilize resources for farming. After retiring as a Forest Range Officer, he embraced organic farming and the rearing of indigenous cows. Today, he is generating substantial income by selling cow dung products.


Profiting More from Cow Dung than Milk Aditya Tyagi has discovered that his earnings from cow dung surpass those from milk sales. He crafts small cow dung cakes and patties, which he sells in garlands. A garland containing 20-21 patties, each weighing around 350 grams, is priced at 290 rupees. What is often considered waste has turned into 'gold' for him.


Strong Demand Both Offline and Online Initially, Aditya sold his products offline, but he recently ventured into online sales, receiving an overwhelming response. In just three days, he sold cow dung products worth 9,000 rupees, averaging about 3,000 rupees in daily sales. The demand has surged during the Holi season, particularly from Hyderabad, making it challenging to fulfill orders.


Pure Cow Dung from Indigenous Breeds He maintains 6 to 7 indigenous cows, including Sahiwal, Tharparkar, Ganga Tihri, and Gir breeds. The pure dung from these cows is used to create his products. Aditya believes that cow dung from indigenous breeds is particularly beneficial for religious rituals and the environment.


Sales Reaching 8-9 Lakhs in Eight Months Over the past eight months, Aditya has achieved sales of 8 to 9 lakhs from his cow dung products. His success illustrates that with the right insight and innovative thinking, even seemingly ordinary items can become significant sources of income.
