Infosys Addresses Workplace Harassment Allegations Amid TCS Investigation

Infosys has refuted social media allegations of workplace harassment at its Pune BPM facility, coinciding with a separate investigation into TCS Nashik. The company maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy towards harassment and has initiated internal processes to address the situation. This comes amid heightened scrutiny of the Maharashtra IT sector, where multiple allegations have surfaced against TCS. The National Commission for Women has also launched a fact-finding committee to investigate the claims. As the inquiry continues, TCS has taken precautionary measures, including directing employees to work from home.

New Delhi, April 16: In light of the ongoing investigation into workplace harassment at TCS Nashik, Infosys has refuted claims circulating on social media regarding harassment at its Business Process Management (BPM) center in Pune.


This clarification comes as the Maharashtra IT sector faces increased scrutiny following a separate inquiry into Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) concerning allegations of workplace harassment and forced religious conversion.


The controversy surrounding Infosys arose from a series of posts on the social media platform X, which accused the company of inappropriate conduct towards female staff at its Pune location.


These posts have since been removed. Maharashtra minister Nitesh Rane has indicated that the government is aware of the allegations.


Infosys emphasized its commitment to a zero-tolerance policy regarding harassment and discrimination.


“Infosys maintains a zero-tolerance approach to any form of harassment or discrimination,” the company stated.


The IT giant further noted that any reported issues are taken seriously and investigated by an independent committee, fostering a culture that encourages employees to voice their concerns through various channels.


Additionally, the company has initiated internal processes and preventive measures in accordance with its global Code of Conduct to address the situation.


This development coincides with the ongoing TCS Nashik case, where numerous female employees have reported harassment by senior personnel from 2022 to 2026.


The allegations include sexual harassment, stalking, inappropriate touching, offensive remarks, mental harassment, and pressure to adopt specific religious practices or convert.


Investigators are currently reviewing over 40 CCTV footage clips and gathering statements from both complainants and accused individuals.


Police have also conducted an undercover operation involving female personnel as part of the investigation.


The inquiry is still in progress, with officials stating that all facets are being thoroughly examined before reaching any conclusions.


In a related matter, TCS officials made an unannounced visit to their Nashik office this week as part of an internal investigation into the allegations, according to reports from a media channel.


The company has formed a special investigation committee to review the complaints, with senior officials recording employee statements as part of the inquiry.


Sources indicate that multiple complaints have emerged during the investigation, expanding its scope. As a precaution, TCS has instructed approximately 120 employees at its Nashik facility to work from home while the investigation is ongoing.


Meanwhile, the National Commission for Women (NCW) has established a fact-finding committee to conduct a thorough investigation into the alleged incidents of sexual harassment at the TCS BPO unit in Nashik. The committee is expected to submit its findings within 10 working days.
