Indore Police Action on Drug Case

On Thursday, the police in Indore apprehended two individuals and seized approximately 11 grams of brown sugar. Additionally, two others were taken into custody, including Nana Patwari, the younger brother of Madhya Pradesh Congress chief Jitu Patwari. The Congress leader has asserted that the case is fabricated and accused the ruling BJP of engaging in politically motivated revenge.

An official reported that after gathering initial evidence and conducting interrogations, the two detained individuals were released late Thursday night, while investigations into technical and financial evidence are still ongoing.

Details of the Arrest

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Narendra Rawat informed reporters that the Rajendra Nagar police acted on reliable information received from an informant, leading to the arrest of Irfan Khan, also known as Golu Chandheri, and Sanjay Kaushal, referred to as Ronnie Bhai. They were found in possession of 10.8 grams of brown sugar and a sports utility vehicle (SUV). A First Information Report (FIR) has been filed under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act concerning the drug seizure.

Political Allegations by Jitu Patwari

Jitu Patwari claimed that his brother was taken into custody without prior notice and accused the ruling BJP of using law enforcement agencies to target political adversaries. He stated that the Indore police detained his brother without any warning, sending a political message that the BJP is now seeking 'revenge.' He expressed concern that anyone who speaks out against those in power or the Chief Minister will be suppressed under the guise of 'law.' Patwari anticipated that false legal actions would be taken against him and his family due to the government's personal vendetta.

Patwari's Defiance

In a post on X, Patwari reiterated his stance, stating that they will neither fear nor bow down to this politically charged legal pressure. Instead, they will continue to fight more vigorously on the ground. However, a senior police officer, speaking on condition of anonymity, mentioned that the Rajendra Nagar police are interrogating Nana Patwari and his close associate, Manav Gangwani, in connection with the NDPS Act case.
