Arrests Made in Connection with Illegal Alcohol Sales

Indore (Madhya Pradesh), August 8 - Two older brothers of Indore businessman Raja Raghuvanshi, who was murdered during his honeymoon in Meghalaya in 2025, along with three employees from their dhaba, were apprehended on Saturday under provisions aimed at preventing cognizable offenses, according to a police official.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Nidhi Saxena reported that illegal alcohol was being served to customers at the dhaba owned by Raja's brothers, Sachin Raghuvanshi and Vipin Raghuvanshi, without any valid license. She explained that both brothers and their three employees were arrested as a precaution under Section 170 of the Indian National Security Code (BNSC) and other relevant provisions. A case has been registered against them under the Excise Act for the illegal sale of alcohol at the dhaba.

Furthermore, the ACP indicated that a separate case was filed under Section 223 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for failing to provide information to the police regarding the dhaba's employees, which pertains to the disobedience of a public servant's orders. Raja Raghuvanshi and his wife, Sonam Raghuvanshi, had traveled to Meghalaya for their honeymoon shortly after their wedding in 2025, where Raja was tragically murdered. In connection with this case, Meghalaya police had previously arrested Sonam, her alleged lover Raj Kushwaha, and three suspected hired assassins.
