DGCA Withdraws New Crew Rest Regulations
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has retracted its recently introduced weekly rest regulations for airline crew, which had caused disruptions in IndiGo's operations for four consecutive days. The regulatory body stated that a review of these provisions was essential following requests from airlines to maintain operational stability.
IndiGo Cancels Domestic Flights
IndiGo, the leading airline in India by market share, announced the cancellation of all its domestic flights from Delhi until midnight on Friday. The impact of the disruptions extended to other cities, resulting in numerous passengers being stranded at various airports.
RBI Cuts Repo Rate
In a significant move, the Reserve Bank of India’s Monetary Policy Committee has reduced the repo rate by 25 basis points to 5.25%. This decision follows a period where the rate remained unchanged at 5.5% during August and October, after a previous cut from 6% in June. Lowering the repo rate is a common strategy employed by central banks to encourage economic growth by making loans more affordable for consumers and businesses.
Modi Reaffirms India's Stance on Peace
During a recent summit in New Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized to Russian President Vladimir Putin that India is firmly on the side of peace regarding the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. Modi expressed India's commitment to supporting peace initiatives, stating, 'We stand shoulder to shoulder in these peace efforts.'
Extension for Waqf Property Registrations
The Union government has declared that custodians registering waqf properties on the UMEED portal will not face penalties or actions for three months following the deadline, which ends on Saturday. This decision comes in light of slow registration progress attributed to technical issues and challenges in locating documentation for historical properties.
