IndiGo Faces Flight Cancellations Amid New DGCA Regulations
IndiGo's Flight Disruptions Due to DGCA's New Regulations
In the past four days, IndiGo has experienced a significant number of flight cancellations, attributed to challenges in implementing the second phase of the new Flight Duty Time Limitations (FDTL) regulations issued by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) last month. This situation has left many passengers stranded at airports for hours, leading to widespread chaos.

The new FDTL standards introduced stringent provisions for pilots, including mandatory weekly rest, restrictions on nighttime landings, and limitations on consecutive night shifts. Airlines have reported difficulties in adhering to these new regulations.
In light of the emerging crisis, the DGCA has rescinded a specific directive that stated, 'No leave shall be substituted for weekly rest.'

The DGCA stated: 'Considering the ongoing operational challenges and submissions from various airlines, it has become necessary to review the relevant provisions to ensure operational continuity and stability.' Currently, IndiGo is working to normalize the situation, but passengers are advised to check the status of their flights before traveling.
