India's Women's Squash Team Achieves Bronze Medal

The women's squash team from India has successfully secured a Bronze medal at the Asian Games 2026 after a nail-biting semifinal match against Hong Kong, which ended with a score of 1-2.

Exciting Semifinal: Match Breakdown

Anahat's Strong Start

Anahat began the match with a strong performance, narrowly winning the first game 11-9 after a tight score of 8-7. She maintained her composure in the second game, which was tied at 8-8, before scoring three consecutive points to clinch it 11-8, taking a 2-0 lead in the match. However, Chan from Hong Kong made a comeback in the third game, initially leading 8-4 before winning it 11-6. Anahat regained her momentum in the fourth game, leading 6-3 and having three match points, but Chan saved them all, eventually forcing a decider with a stroke awarded to her.

Tanvi Khanna's Remarkable Comeback

India equalized the semifinal through Tanvi Khanna, who staged an impressive comeback against Lee Ka Yi, who was ranked 33 places higher. Tanvi won the match 3-1 with scores of 4-11, 13-11, 11-9, and 13-11. After losing the first game 4-11, she bounced back to win the second game 13-11. She then narrowly took the third game 11-9 and held her nerve in a tense fourth game, winning 13-11. Tanvi's strategic shot selection consistently challenged Lee's reach, and she maintained her composure during the crucial moments of the match.

Joshna Chinappa in the Final Match

Unfortunately, veteran player Joshna Chinappa was unable to secure a victory in the deciding match, losing to Ho Tze Lok with a score of 0-3 (4-11, 7-11, 9-11). The 40-year-old Indian player fought valiantly, especially towards the end, saving five match points, but could not keep up with the pace of the world No. 39 from Hong Kong, who dominated the first two games.

With this 2-1 victory, Hong Kong moved on to the finals, while India concluded the tournament with a Bronze medal in the women's team squash event.
