In a remarkable display of skill, the Indian women's hockey team triumphed over the reigning Asian champions, China, with a score of 1-0, securing the gold medal and ending a 44-year drought for an Asian Games medal in Aichi-Nagoya. This victory marks a significant milestone for the team.

"It feels amazing; the team has won gold. Achieving gold at the Asian Games is monumental, and our daughter is part of this success. Deepika's strong start undoubtedly instilled confidence in the team. Even though she didn't score in later matches, her earlier goals energized the squad. The entire village is uniting to give her a warm welcome, with many coming forward to congratulate her," Jagdish Sehrawat shared.

Ranked eighth globally, India surprised the fourth-ranked China in a tightly contested final, with Lalremsiami netting the winning goal in the 10th minute. This victory marks the first time since 1982 that the Indian women's hockey team has earned a medal at the Asian Games.
Deepika's Remarkable Scoring Record
Deepika Sehrawat emerged as the tournament's leading scorer, netting 21 goals, while her teammate Navneet Kaur followed with 10 goals. China's Jiaqi Zhong managed to score nine goals.
