India is on the brink of making history in its space sector with the imminent launch of the Vikram-1 rocket, the country's first orbital rocket developed by the private sector. Scheduled for liftoff on Saturday from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, this rocket is designed to place several small satellites and instruments into low Earth orbit. Developed by the Hyderabad-based company Skyroot Aerospace, the mission aims to deploy payloads primarily for testing and demonstrating new space technologies.
Mission Arrival: A Cultural Touch
This groundbreaking mission, named 'Mission Arrival,' will carry not only technical instruments but also a unique cultural payload. Among the items is a postcard featuring a handwritten message of 'Vande Mataram' by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with a miniature artwork. Additionally, handwritten postcards from scientists, engineers, and Indian astronauts will also reach space during this mission.
Launch Details and Payload Capacity
The four-stage rocket, standing seven stories tall, is set to launch at 11:30 AM on Saturday from the first launch pad in Sriharikota. During its journey, Vikram-1 will deploy technical instruments such as those from Graha Space, Cosmoserve, DQube, and Skyroot's Scope at an altitude of 450 kilometers in low Earth orbit. According to the company's official website, the Vikram-1 rocket is designed to carry payloads of up to 350 kilograms.
