On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his congratulations to both the Indian Women's and Men's Hockey teams for their outstanding performances at the U18 Asia Cup 2026. The Men's team emerged victorious, defeating Japan 4-1 in the final held in Kakamigahara, while the Women's team secured a bronze medal with a decisive 3-0 win over Korea.

Men's Final Match Highlights
In the final match, Ashish Tani Purti shone with a hat-trick, scoring at the 2nd, 28th, and 34th minutes, while captain Ketan Kushwaha added another goal at the 30th minute. Japan's Numada Gaku managed to score their only goal in the 52nd minute, as reported by Hockey India.
Women's Team Achieves Bronze
The Indian Women's U18 Hockey Team concluded their campaign on a high note by securing the bronze medal at the U18 Asia Cup 2026. They demonstrated impressive attacking prowess, netting 36 goals, along with strong defensive skills throughout the tournament.

In the bronze medal match, Sandeepa Kumari (2'), Captain Sweety Kujur (16'), and Nousheen Naz (33') scored to secure an impressive finish for the Indian Women’s team.
Hockey India Rewards Teams
In recognition of their achievements, Hockey India announced a cash prize of Rs 3 lakh for each player of the gold medal-winning Men's U-18 Hockey Team and Rs 1.5 lakh for each member of the support staff. Additionally, the Women's U-18 Hockey Team players will receive Rs 1 lakh each, while their support staff will get Rs 50,000 each.
