India's T20I Stars Shine in ICC Rankings
Strong Performances by Indian Players
On February 25 in Dubai, India's T20I squad has made a significant impact in the latest International Cricket Council (ICC) Men’s T20I Player Rankings. Opener Abhishek Sharma has successfully retained his top position, while wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan has impressively entered the top five.
Abhishek continues to lead the batting rankings, holding a substantial 62-point advantage over England's Phil Salt, despite a slow start in the T20 World Cup. Meanwhile, Sahibzada Farhan from Pakistan, who is currently the leading run-scorer of the tournament, has climbed two spots to secure third place, achieving a personal best rating.
Kishan's ascent to fifth place in the T20I batter rankings highlights his consistent performance in this fast-paced format. His rise is part of a successful week for India, with several players improving their standings in the updated rankings.
India's representation in the top 10 has strengthened, with Kishan's advancement supported by other international players' notable improvements. South Africa's Dewald Brevis jumped 10 places to ninth, while Afghanistan's Ibrahim Zadran (13th), West Indies captain Shai Hope (14th), and England's Harry Brook (18th) also made significant strides.
In the all-rounders' category, Zimbabwe's captain Sikandar Raza has reclaimed the No.1 position after his pivotal role in leading his team to the Super Eights, surpassing Pakistan's Saim Ayub in a fiercely competitive race. India's Shivam Dube has also improved, moving up two spots to seventh, while Afghanistan's Mohammad Nabi has climbed to eighth.
Indian players continue to excel in the bowling rankings as well. Spinner Varun Chakravarthy has maintained his No.1 status despite a challenging match against South Africa. In contrast, South African pacer Corbin Bosch has made a remarkable leap of 21 places to third, following impressive performances, including a three-wicket haul against the UAE and figures of 2/12 against India.
Additionally, West Indies fast bowler Matthew Forde (seventh) and India's Jasprit Bumrah (eighth) have also made significant progress. South Africa's Marco Jansen, West Indies spinner Gudakesh Motie, and England's left-arm spinner Liam Dawson have also seen upward movement after productive outings.
