Nice (France), Jun 14: Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized that India has transitioned from being merely a consumer of global solutions to becoming a significant contributor, while presenting New Delhi's vision for a sustainable future through innovation and technology.


During the inauguration of the 'Bharat Innovates' event, attended by French President Emmanuel Macron, Modi expressed that this initiative invites the world to collaborate with India in shaping the future of global innovation.


The event showcases leading innovation startups from India, France, and other nations.


Modi remarked that young innovators in India are developing solutions that can benefit humanity as a whole.


He also highlighted various reform initiatives undertaken by his government across key sectors such as high technology, defense, and innovation.


"The reform express of India will keep moving forward," he stated, noting that while a decade ago, India was seen as a technology adopter, it is now recognized as a technology provider.


"India is innovating for a sustainable future and for the world," he asserted, emphasizing that innovation is ingrained in the nation's identity.


Modi pointed out that India has evolved into a contributor of solutions rather than just a consumer.


He also discussed the strong ties between India and France, describing their partnership as one built on connection, conviction, innovation, inspiration, and a shared vision.


President Macron acknowledged France's respect for the Make-in-India initiative, highlighting Paris's involvement across various sectors.


He referred to India as a "country of innovation" and noted the genuine partnership between New Delhi and Paris in critical areas such as artificial intelligence and climate change.


Macron mentioned the potential for enhancing bilateral cooperation in the civil nuclear energy sector, particularly regarding Small Modular Reactors.


Bharat Innovates 2026 is a key initiative by the Indian government aimed at propelling the country's deep-tech startups and research efforts onto the global stage.
