India's Humanitarian Mission: Operation Amistad Aids Earthquake-Hit Venezuela

India has launched Operation Amistad to provide vital humanitarian assistance to Venezuela after it was struck by powerful earthquakes. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar announced the arrival of relief supplies, medical equipment, and a field hospital unit, emphasizing India's commitment to supporting the Venezuelan people during this crisis. Humanitarian Aid Arrives in Venezuela


New Delhi: The Indian government has successfully delivered relief supplies, medical equipment, and a field hospital unit to Venezuela, which has been severely impacted by recent earthquakes. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar announced that this humanitarian aid will significantly enhance the ongoing relief operations in the country.


Jaishankar provided this update via a post on X, expressing confidence that the assistance would support the recovery efforts in Venezuela. He also shared images of the aid consignment.


The Indian Air Force (IAF) also provided an update on the mission, known as Operation Amistad.


In a remarkable display of efficiency and compassion, two C-17 Globemaster III aircraft from the IAF completed a challenging 23-hour journey to Venezuela, covering over 14,000 kilometers from Delhi to Caracas.


Upon arrival at Maiquetia International Airport, the aircraft delivered 66 tonnes of humanitarian supplies, which included an Indian Army field hospital, over 35 tonnes of relief materials, medicines, and medical equipment, along with two BHISHM Cubes. This operation showcases India's commitment to providing assistance across the globe when needed.


This deployment underscores India's evolving role as a responsible first responder and a dependable humanitarian ally, as highlighted by the IAF.


Under Operation Amistad, initiated to aid Venezuela following the earthquakes, two IAF C-17 aircraft, along with a 41-member rescue team, departed on Friday to support the ongoing relief and rescue efforts.

The Ministry of External Affairs reaffirmed India's solidarity with the Venezuelan government and its citizens during this challenging time.


The recent earthquakes, measuring 7.2 and 7.5 on the Richter scale, were among the most powerful to hit Venezuela in over a century, affecting a wide area.


As of Saturday, the death toll from these devastating quakes has reached 1,430, with many more individuals reported missing.
