India's Ambassador-Designate Engages with Japanese Officials to Strengthen Bilateral Ties

On December 19, India's Ambassador-designate to Japan, Nagma M. Mallick, met with Hiraku Ikeda, the Mayor of Urakawa, expressing gratitude for the support extended to the Indian community in the town. The Indian Embassy in Japan shared this interaction on social media.
The day prior, Mallick had a discussion with KIUCHI Minoru, Japan's Minister of State for Economic and Fiscal Policy, where they explored various dimensions of the Special Strategic and Global Partnership between India and Japan.
Additionally, Nagma M. Mallick met with Yasutoshi Nishimura, a member of Japan's House of Representatives and the Chairman of the Japan-India Parliamentary Friendship Group. Their conversation focused on mutual interests and enhancing the partnership between the two nations.
Earlier in the week, she also engaged with Fukushiro Nukaga, the Speaker of Japan's House of Representatives, to discuss bilateral relations.
On November 23, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Japan's Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi held a significant meeting during the G20 Summit in Johannesburg, where they deliberated on boosting cooperation in innovation, defense, and talent mobility.
PM Modi described the meeting as fruitful, emphasizing the importance of a robust India-Japan partnership for global betterment. This was their first encounter since Takaichi took office.
On October 27, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met with his Japanese counterpart, Motegi Toshimitsu, during the ASEAN Summit in Kuala Lumpur, where they agreed to enhance bilateral cooperation and implement a shared vision for the next decade.
