Protests Erupt Over NEET-UG Exam Paper Leak

The Indian Youth Congress (IYC) staged a protest in Delhi, expressing their discontent regarding the alleged leak of the NEET-UG exam papers. Led by Akshay Lakra, the president of the Delhi Youth Congress, demonstrators marched towards Raisina Road, calling for an investigation by a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC). Uday Bhanu Chib, the national president of IYC, criticized the BJP-led central government for failing to ensure the integrity of the examination process.

On Wednesday, the Congress party highlighted the need to cancel the medical entrance exam NEET-UG, insisting that Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan should resign immediately. They also demanded the formation of a JPC to investigate the paper leak incident. Uday Bhanu Chib and Vinod Jakhar, the president of the student wing NSUI, addressed reporters at the party office, stating that the government must provide adequate compensation to the students affected by the exam cancellation.

Chib remarked that the NEET paper leak is a significant issue, noting that there have been 89 paper leaks in the past decade, leading to 48 re-examinations. He emphasized that the government has failed in its responsibility towards the students. He urged people to empathize with the students, who work hard for their exams, only to lose faith in the system when leaks occur. Chib held the BJP government accountable for this failure, asserting that while the party claims Prime Minister Narendra Modi can prevent wars between nations, he cannot stop paper leaks.

Chib raised questions about who audits the NTA and on what basis private vendors are contracted. He reiterated the demands for the education minister's immediate resignation, compensation for students, and the establishment of a JPC to investigate the NEET paper leak. Vinod Jakhar claimed that Rajasthan was at the center of this paper leak, which he alleged had political backing, jeopardizing the futures of millions of students.
