Indian Wrestlers Shine at Ulaanbaatar Open with 17 Medals

The Indian wrestling team achieved remarkable success at the Ulaanbaatar Open, finishing with a total of 17 medals. Key highlights include gold medals in men's freestyle by Deepak, Sagar, and Dinesh, alongside a strong showing from the women's team. The Greco-Roman wrestlers also contributed significantly, securing two golds. This impressive performance underscores India's growing prowess in wrestling on the international stage.
 

Outstanding Performance at Ulaanbaatar Open

The Indian wrestling team concluded their participation in the Ulaanbaatar Open Senior Ranking Series with an impressive haul of 17 medals on Monday. Notably, Deepak (61kg), Sagar Jaglan (74kg), and Dinesh (125kg) each secured gold medals in the men's freestyle category, as reported by a sports news outlet.


Men's Freestyle Wrestlers Excel

The Indian men's wrestlers showcased remarkable talent, earning a total of seven medals in the men's freestyle events, contributing significantly to the overall medal count. Deepak triumphed in the 62 kg category, decisively defeating Kazakhstan's Assyl Aitakyn with a score of 6-0. In the heavyweight division, Dinesh outperformed Kazakhstan's Yedige Kassimbek, winning the 125kg final with a score of 2-0. Sagar also displayed exceptional skill, narrowly defeating Russia's Tamir Eshinimaev 3-2 to claim the top spot in the men's 74 kg category.


Additionally, four more medals were secured by Indian wrestlers in freestyle, with Sumit (57kg), Kumar Mohit (65kg), Jaideep (74kg), and Vicky (97kg) contributing to the team's success, ultimately finishing as runners-up in the team championship, just behind Russia.


Greco-Roman Wrestlers Achieve Success

In earlier rounds of the tournament, the Indian Greco-Roman wrestlers also excelled, bringing home two gold medals through Sunil (87kg) and Nitesh (97kg). Sahil added a bronze medal in the 60kg category. The Greco-Roman team secured the championship title with a total of 119 points.


Women's Team Makes Significant Contributions

The women's wrestling team also made a notable impact, earning seven medals overall. Gold medals were claimed by Manisha (57kg), Neha (59kg), and Kajal (76kg). Additionally, bronze medals were awarded to Neelam (50kg), Hansika Lamba (55kg), Mansi (62kg), and Priya (76kg).
