On Wednesday, Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya extended his congratulations to Parinaaz Dhaliwal, Raiza Dhillon, and Maheshwari Chauhan after the Indian women's skeet team clinched a historic bronze medal at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games 2026. Mandaviya expressed his pride on social media, stating, "Heartiest congratulations to Parinaaz Dhaliwal, Raiza Dhillon, and Maheshwari Chauhan for winning the first-ever Bronze Medal in the Women’s Skeet Team event at the #AsianGames2026."

A Remarkable Performance in Shooting

The Indian team secured third place in the women's skeet team event with a total score of 331. Both Raiza Dhillon and Parinaaz Dhaliwal scored 111 out of 125, while Maheshwari Chauhan added 109 points. The gold medal was claimed by China with a score of 346, and Kazakhstan took home the silver.

Men's Skeet Team Also Shines

India's men's skeet team also achieved a bronze medal. The trio of Anantjeet Singh Naruka, Mairaj Ahmed Khan, and Bhavtegh Singh Gill finished third with a score of 346, winning against Kazakhstan in a shoot-off. Naruka qualified for the men's skeet individual final, while Olympic medallist Manu Bhaker reached the women's 10m air pistol individual final but finished in fifth place. Suruchi Inder Singh and Esha Singh were unable to qualify.

Soft Tennis Breakthrough

In soft tennis, Jay Meena triumphed over the Philippines' Sherwin Nuguit in the men's singles quarter-final, ensuring India its first-ever Asian Games medal in this sport, as all semi-finalists are guaranteed a medal.

Kabaddi Team Maintains Momentum

The Indian women's kabaddi team continued its impressive performance, defeating Iran 37-23 in their Group A match, marking their second consecutive victory after starting their campaign against Bangladesh.

Strong Performances in Rowing and Kayaking

In rowing, Balraj Panwar qualified for the men's single sculls final, while Satnam Singh and Salman Khan advanced to the men's double sculls final. The women's four crew, consisting of Gurbani Kaur, Aleena Anto, Tendenthoi Haobijam, and Poonam, also made it to Final A.

In kayaking, the men's kayak four 500m team reached the final, while Megha Pradeep qualified for the women's canoe single 200m semi-final. Parvathy Geetha and Phairembam Soniya Devi advanced to the women's kayak double 500m semi-final.

Table Tennis Success

In table tennis, Harmeet Desai and Yashaswini Ghorpade won against Maldives' Mohamed Ismail and Fathimath Ali, while Manush Shah and Diya Chitale defeated Sri Lanka's Chanul Kulappuwawadu and Bimandee Swarna in mixed doubles.

In sepaktakraw, India triumphed over the Philippines 2-1 in the men's team regu Group B match but unfortunately did not qualify for the next stage.
