Indian Women's Cricket Team Dominates Zimbabwe in ODI Series
India Secures 3-0 ODI Series Victory Against Zimbabwe
In Vadodara, the Indian women's cricket team showcased an impressive performance, defeating Zimbabwe decisively in the third and final ODI match. Following a record-breaking bowling display by Vaishnavi Sharma, along with explosive half-centuries from Shefali Verma and Pratika Rawal, India restricted Zimbabwe to just 131 runs. Chasing a target of 132, India achieved this in a mere 17 overs, losing only two wickets. After clinching the T20 series 3-0, the Indian team completed a clean sweep in the ODI series as well.
The Indian innings began on a shaky note when opener Yastika Bhatia was dismissed without scoring on the very first ball. However, Pratika Rawal, who came in next, formed a crucial partnership of 59 runs with Harleen Deol (19 runs). Following Harleen's departure, the aggressive Shefali Verma took charge, scoring an unbeaten 51 runs off just 26 balls, featuring three sixes and six fours. Meanwhile, Pratika Rawal played responsibly, contributing 59 runs from 56 balls. Together, they forged an unbroken partnership of 74 runs in just 50 balls, leading India to a commanding victory by the 17th over.
Earlier in the match, the standout performer was young spinner Vaishnavi Sharma, who took five wickets, sending five Zimbabwean batswomen back to the pavilion. At just 20 years and 314 days, she became the second youngest Indian woman to achieve this feat in an ODI. Zimbabwe's entire team was bowled out for 131 runs in 39.5 overs, caught in Vaishnavi's spin web. The Indian team displayed disciplined bowling and sharp fielding, marking a fantastic start to their domestic season with a clean sweep in both the T20 and ODI series.
