The Indian women's boxing team made history at the Asian Boxing Championships 2026, topping the medal tally with an impressive total of 10 medals. This haul included four gold, two silver, and four bronze medals, showcasing their dominance in the sport at the continental level.

Golden Triumphs for Indian Boxers

Under the guidance of head coach Santiago Nieva, every member of the women's team returned home with a medal, asserting their prowess in the competition. The event saw Boxing Federation of India President Ajay Singh present as Minakshi (48kg) opened the gold account with a decisive 5-0 victory against Mongolia's Nomundari Enkh-Amgalan.

Continuing the momentum, Preeti (54kg) triumphed over three-time world champion and Tokyo 2020 Olympic bronze medallist Huang Hsiao-wen from Chinese Taipei, winning by a unanimous 5-0 decision.

Priya (60kg) contributed to the gold tally with a solid 3-0 victory against North Korea's Won Un-gyong in the final match.

Arundhati (70kg) also shone brightly, securing gold with a 4:1 win over Kazakhstan's Bakyt Seidish.

Silver Medals Achieved

India also secured two silver medals during the championships. Jaismine (57kg) finished as the runner-up after a commendable performance, while Alfiyan Pathan (80+kg) earned silver following her final bout.

Overall Success and Looking Ahead

With a total of 16 medals, the highest of any participating nation in this edition, India aims to conclude the tournament on a high note, with two male boxers set to compete in the finals on Friday.
