At the 10th Bengaluru Open, Indian tennis players experienced a blend of success and disappointment. Dhakshineswar Suresh and Manas Dhamne progressed to the Quarter-Finals after securing hard-fought victories, while former champion Sumit Nagal faced elimination following a tough match against second seed Harold Mayot.


Nagal Exits in Intense Three-Set Match

In a gripping encounter, Mayot triumphed over Nagal, winning 7-6(2), 6-1, 7-6(11) after saving seven match points. The match was characterized by dramatic shifts in momentum and required immense physical endurance from both players. Mayot initially broke Nagal's serve, but the Indian player quickly retaliated, forcing a tie-break in the first set. Mayot elevated his game during the tie-break, securing the first set. In the second set, Nagal altered his strategy, frequently approaching the net and breaking Mayot early, allowing him to dominate the set. The final set was a test of stamina, with Nagal delivering impressive returns, but ultimately, Mayot's defensive skills and composure led him to victory after three hours and nine minutes.

In doubles action, the Indian duo of SD Prajwal Dev and Nitin Kumar Sinha reached the quarter-finals, joining top seeds Sriram Balaji from India and Neil Oberleitner from Austria, as well as the Dutch pair Max Houkes and Niels Visker, and the team of Petr Bar Biryukov and Grigoriy Lomakin.
