Indian Squash and Wushu Athletes Shine at Asian Games

Indian athletes have showcased remarkable performances at the Asian Games, with Anahat Singh and Tanvi Khanna advancing to the women's singles squash quarterfinals. In wushu, Roshibina Devi made history by winning her second consecutive silver medal. The rowing team also contributed to India's medal tally with a bronze in double sculls. Squash Stars Progress at Asian Games

Indian squash player Anahat Singh has advanced to the quarterfinals of the women's singles event at the Asian Games taking place in Aichi-Nagoya. The third seed began her journey with a decisive victory over Singapore's Au Yeong Wai Iynn, winning 3-0 with scores of 11-4, 11-5, and 11-7.


In another match, Tanvi Khanna triumphed over Au Yeong Wai Yhann from Singapore, securing a 3-1 win (5-11, 11-4, 11-5, 13-11). This victory sets up an all-Indian quarterfinal clash between Anahat and Tanvi. Notably, the squash competition will see its Olympic debut at the 2028 Los Angeles Games.


Joshna and Velavan Reach Mixed Doubles Quarterfinals

The duo of Joshna Chinappa and Velavan Senthilkumar has successfully reached the quarterfinals in the mixed doubles squash category. They faced fellow Indians Suraj Chand and Shameena Riaz, winning the match 2-0 with scores of 11-7 and 11-10. The first game was straightforward for the experienced pair, while the second game was more competitive, with Suraj and Shameena leveling the score at 9-9 before Joshna and Velavan secured the win.


Wushu: Roshibina Devi Achieves Historic Silver

Indian wushu athlete Roshibina Devi has made history by winning her second consecutive silver medal at the Asian Games. Competing in the women's sanda 60 kg final, she faced China's Zhang Xiaoyu and lost both rounds with a score of 0-5. Roshibina, who also secured a silver at the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games, becomes the first Indian woman to earn three consecutive medals in Wushu at these games. Her impressive journey included a victory over the 2023 world champion Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy from Vietnam.


This achievement marks India's 14th medal at the ongoing Asian Games, contributing to a tally that includes one gold, six silvers, and seven bronzes.


Rowing: Bronze in Double Sculls, Fourth in Singles

In rowing, the team of Satnam Singh and Salman Khan clinched a bronze medal in the men's double sculls final, finishing with a time of 6:13.25. They were just 3.48 seconds behind the gold medalists from China and 2.76 seconds off the silver medalists.


Meanwhile, Balraj Panwar finished fourth in the men's singles sculls. He initially held second place at the 500m, 1000m, and 1500m marks but was overtaken in the final stretch, ultimately finishing with a time of 6:54.80, trailing behind the gold medalist Zhiwei Deng of China.
