Indian Sprinters Shine at Asian Games, Boxing Update

At the Asian Games, Indian sprinters Animesh Kujur and Gurindervir Singh have both advanced to the semifinals of the men's 100m event, showcasing impressive performances in their heats. Meanwhile, boxer Sakshi Chaudhary faced a narrow defeat, while Parveen moved forward to the quarterfinals without a fight. Sprint Success at Asian Games

Indian sprinters Animesh Kujur and Gurindervir Singh have successfully advanced to the semifinals of the men's 100m event at the Asian Games. This achievement came after both athletes performed admirably in their respective heats on Thursday.


Kujur secured his semifinal spot by finishing third in his heat with a time of 10.36 seconds. The heat was won by Thailand's Puripol Boonson, who clocked an impressive 9.95 seconds, while China's Zeng Keli took second place with a time of 10.22 seconds. Kujur's reaction time was recorded at 0.140 seconds, allowing him to maintain a qualifying position.


Gurindervir Singh also made his mark by finishing second in Heat 4 of Round 1, achieving a time of 10.38 seconds. Oman's Malham Al Balushi won this heat with a time of 10.29 seconds, and Iran's Hassan Taftian came in third at 10.46 seconds. Gurindervir's reaction time was 0.142 seconds, placing him just 0.09 seconds behind the heat winner.


With both sprinters qualifying for the semifinals, India now has two representatives aiming for a spot in the final as the athletics campaign progresses at this prestigious event.


Boxing Update

In boxing news, Indian athlete Sakshi Chaudhary faced a tough defeat, losing 3-2 to Kazakhstan's Balkibekova in the women's 51 kg category. Meanwhile, Parveen advanced to the quarterfinals without competing, as Tajikistan's Malika Nozimova conceded a walkover.


Parveen's next challenge will be against Uzbekistan's Navbakhor Khamidova in the quarterfinals.
